  • Anais has had the opportunity to interview various experts and organizations throughout her career, like the Earth Journalism Network. This work revealed how local journalists shed light on important issues like food insecurity and highlighted the relationship between food and local ecosystems.
  • Exploring the diversity of food cultures is a focus of both Anais's research and her own cooking. She's tried firsthand recipes from around the world while studying the history behind the dishes, gaining an appreciation for both intricate meals and the simple ingredients behind them.
  • Growing up Mexican-American, Anais didn't always have opportunities to connect with her culture, especially when she turned to a plant-based lifestyle. However, once she dove into Vegetarian and Vegan recipes, it opened up a new world where she was able to learn new cooking techniques and how to adapt traditional foods to a new diet without sacrificing authenticity.

Experience

Anais's writing career kicked off as a Journalism Intern with The Borgen Project where she interviewed global organizations and wrote on the power of beans for those facing economic insecurity. She's gone on to work directly with authors as an editor for Your Book Team and MetaStellar. Besides Tasting Table, Anais's writing has been featured in The Publishing Post and The Game of Nerds. On a typical day off, she can be found in the kitchen recreating recipes from "The Great British Baking Show," with a vegan spin.

Education

Anais has a bachelor's degree in linguistics from William & Mary.
