5 Best New Oreo Cookies That Dropped In 2026

Add The Takeout on Google:

Since 1912, the Oreo cookie has never been one to rest on its laurels. The brand is so committed to flavor experimentation that the original release included both the classic Oreos we all love and a lemon meringue flavor. That first citrus Oreo might not have worked out, but it didn't hold the brains behind the cookies back. Across just the last couple of decades we've seen Swedish Fish Oreos, Kettle Corn Oreos, and even a wasabi sandwich cookie. With all that to beat, it's no surprise that 2026 was a big year for the classic sweet snack. Perhaps the brand stays wacky to keep ahead of the best Oreo dupes out there.

Since January, we've seen bigger and wilder celebrity and brand collabs, sweet and savory mashups, and an online contest to choose a winner between three new flavors. The team behind Oreos isn't just looking for the cookies to be enjoyed; it wants engagement too. This was made clear in 2025 when fans were asked to vote for the discontinued flavor they wanted to return.

Despite all the noise around presales for new cookie flavors, some of Oreo's new releases are actually really good, while others are love-or-hate enough to create intrigue. That's why I waded through all the chatter for this rundown of the best Oreo flavors of the year. I've only included classics here, not Thins, Cakesters, or other new Oreo-flavored releases.

Oreo Banana Pudding

Oreo Banana Pudding cookies, released in August 2026, were one of the three flavors in the limited edition lineup that were pitted against each other in a promotional competition. The other two were Deep Fried Oreos and Chicken and Waffles Oreos. The Twist-Lick-Vote contest asked Oreo enjoyers to sample all three before voting on their favorite. The winner will "return," which is honestly a pretty unspecific prize. Will it return for a month? A year? Or will it be back forever, like the excellent Oreo Reese's Cookies? Whatever the plan is, the flavors have all been so well received that vote margins are probably razor thin.

For what it's worth, my vote is going to the Banana Pudding cookies. Honestly, I'm kind of shocked there hasn't already been a banana (pudding) flavored Oreo. There were a bunch of banana pudding recipes using Golden Oreos on social media a while ago, so maybe those inspired Oreo HQ.

The vanilla cookies sandwiching the banana- and vanilla-pudding-flavored filling are pretty much the same as the ones used in Golden Oreos, and the package looks really similar. As a lover of both banana pudding and artificial banana flavor, I'm glad the brand finally saw the light and put these out. If you hate that Runts banana flavor, though, you might not like these cookies.

Oreo Deep Fried

The most surprising thing about these cookies is that they actually do taste reminiscent of the deep-fried Oreos you find at a state fair or diner. The second most surprising thing (at least for me) is the clever way the brand managed that.

The cookies are like extra-sweet, extra-rich golden Oreos, and they taste like fried funnel cake batter. Inside, the creme layers chocolate, white, and chocolate again. The dark chocolate creme tastes similar to standard Oreo cookies that are warm and softened from the fry basket, except they won't burn your tongue. Unless you create a monstrous double-fried Oreo, of course, and batter up this limited edition flavor. Honestly, if you did, it would be far from the strangest state fair food to be found in the United States.

One small warning: A few Redditors think this flavor tastes like a standard Oreo that's been left in the oven for too long. Others have theorized that this burnt flavor is one of those things some people can taste and others can't detect at all, like the soapy cilantro phenomenon. You'll have to try them yourself to find out if you're cursed. If you are, someone else in the house is sure to like them.

Oreo Chicken and Waffles

Look, I didn't want to include these Chicken and Waffle Oreos. They feel like rage bait. But somehow, they're good. They're even a hit on Reddit, albeit a controversial one. Many Redditors enjoyed them, with one saying, "Chicken and waffles is the best, it's so good." Another was about as far in the other direction as you can get but understood they're an outlier, posting, "It was REVOLTING but everyone at my work liked that flavor the most."

It makes sense that this reaction was rare. At their heart, these Oreos aren't really all that wild. Fried chicken and syrup-covered waffles are the inspiration for the flavor, and the cookies are embossed with the criss-cross of a breakfast waffle. The ingredients include natural smoke, yeast extract, paprika, salt, pepper, and celery — which is presumably how these vegetarian cookies have a chicken-like flavor — as well as brown sugar, molasses, and cinnamon. This really is a pleasant sweet-and-salty combo from Oreo, which is something the brand hasn't leaned into often, but it worked well with the limited edition Chocolate Covered Pretzel flavor. I would be happy to see these back next year, but we'll have to see what happens with the Twist-Lick-Vote contest.

Oreo BTS

No, these Oreos aren't BTS-flavored. Much more sensibly, they're supposed to taste like a Korean street food called hotteok, which is basically a crisp, pan-fried pancake with a brown-sugar syrup filling. The cookies are also being advertised as the brand's first-ever purple cookie, which, personally, I don't think is much of a flex. There's a reason there aren't a ton of purple foods out there.

Despite their questionable color (which is quite a bit more muted in real life), the BTS crossover cookies were a big hit when they arrived on shelves this summer after a presale period. Caramel-forward brown sugar pancake is a natural fit for cookies, and the 13 stamped designs push the perishable limited-release cookies closer to collectors' items.

While it's hard to imagine a more baldly capitalist collaboration than Mondelez International and the world's most well-known K-Pop outfit, the cookies were tasty, the gimmick worked, and yes, obviously I would eat a whole pack of these if they were put in front of me. For the record, I liked the Selena Gomez Oreos too. I guess I'm part of the problem.

Oreo Easter Colored Creme

Okay, this is kind of cheating because these Easter Colored Creme cookies are just Double Stuf Oreos but way cuter. As we should all know, Double Stuf Oreos are already the best kind of Oreo (please don't find my work email and challenge me on this; I have it decided). Unsurprisingly, making the filling pink and yellow and printing cute little Easter-themed chicks and bunnies on the cookies just made them better. There are even cut-outs for the noses and beaks so the filling peaks through. They're all around adorable.

Admittedly, some people might be put off by the Play-Doh vibes of this sweet snack, but I don't lie to myself. I know Oreos aren't made of ingredients I could find at a farmers market. If they were, I wouldn't be able to eat a whole tube and still be hungry. So really, the bright colors are just announcing an existing truth. These were limited edition around Easter, and they came in single-cookie pouches. Presumably that means they were meant for Easter baskets and kids' lunchboxes, but big kids enjoyed them too, and we'll be keeping an eye out for them next year. You can make yourself a bagged lunch if you work from home, you know!
