Sam's Club does many things better than Costco, we'll be the first to admit. The big box store doesn't try to go head-to-head with its competitor on every front, however, including in the bakery. It seems hardly a week goes by where we're not announcing some brand-new Costco baked good, whereas Sam's seems to take a more measured approach to introducing new bakery items. The ones it does add to the lineup, however, are generally well worth checking out.

All of the items on this list were introduced in 2026 and are something that caught shoppers' interest for one reason or another. There are cakes meant for special celebrations along with several seasonal treats. A traditional treat from south of the border also features on our greatest hits list, as does a breakfast item that recalls a long-vanished fast food favorite. Nearly all of these items are still available for purchase, but availability may vary by location. Even so, this is another plus in the Sam's vs. Costco column since the latter's limited-time bakery items sometimes come and go at dizzying speed.

Baby's first sheet cake

Sam's Club is one of the best grocery chains for buying a birthday cake, and that includes your very first one. The Bear Blocks Half Sheet Cake has a super-cute yellow and white design with a teddy bear, balloons, and blocks spelling out B-A-B-Y. It's perfect for a first birthday but would also work for a baby shower, adoption day, or another infant-centered occasion. The cake comes in a choice of chocolate, white, or marble and is said to provide up to 48 servings. Purchasers have awarded it a 4.3-star rating, with one person describing it as, "Delicious and the decor was amazing!" Another agreed, "Cake was beautiful and delicious. Best value for your money."

Breakfast-flavored bagels

Once upon a pre-pandemic time, Panera sold French toast-flavored bagels and people liked them. Then they were discontinued and Panera customers desperately wanted them back on the menu. Well, those same people can now rejoice if they have Sam's Club cards. The Sam's Club bakery is selling its own French Toast Bagels, and judging from the 5-star rating they may be as good as Panera's. "I ate this dry with no toppings and loved it. Idk how they did it but it's amazing," raved one person, claiming these bagels satisfy an urge for French toast for someone on a dairy-free diet.

A cartoon-themed cake

Just about everyone loves SpongeBob, and the same goes for cake. A SpongeBob-themed cake is pretty much a slam-dunk then, so of course the Sam's Club SpongeBob 10-Inch Double Layer Cake has five stars. It comes in a choice of white or chocolate and is said to serve up to 16 people, but we kind of doubt it since everyone's going to want seconds. "This was one of the best tasting buttercream cakes I've had in a long time," one person declared. Another cheered, "We loved everything about it!"

Cupcakes featuring a favorite kids' character

Winnie the Pooh is one of the sweetest characters in children's literature, and not just because of his fondness for honey, so Sam's Club's 4.3-star Winnie the Pooh Cupcakes are pretty on-brand for the silly old bear. They come in a package of 30 and are frosted in yellow, blue, or green buttercream; and you can choose whether you'd prefer chocolate cake, white cake, or 15 of each. According to one person who purchased these desserts, "They were delicious! So cute and flavorful." Someone else said, "These cupcakes were so pretty and tasted great!"

The cutest little piggies

Marranitos are Mexican gingerbread cookies shaped like pigs (the name is a Spanish word meaning little piggies). Sam's Club added this item to its lineup this year and we've already named them one of the best Member's Mark finds of 2026. Sam's shoppers seem to agree with our assessment since the cookies have a 4.1-star rating. Reviewers have left such comments as: "Their texture is soft and a rich flavor, I love them." Another said, "Very moist and flavorful. Will be purchasing more."

Mini cheesecakes with tasty toppings

Another new arrival in Sam's bakery this year also made one of our other best-of lists: The 4.3-star Member's Mark Assorted Cheesecakes were one of our top finds for August 2026. This assortment consists of eight three-inch cheesecakes, two of which are salted caramel flavored, two are a caramel-chocolate-pecan combo known as turtle, and four have a strawberry topping. "They have such a great flavor and smooth texture. I'll definitely buy them again," said one shopper. Another described the dessert as having "a light rich taste that definitely satisfies."

A new fall favorite

Sam's Club brought back its annual pumpkin pie in early August this year, but a month before that the club dropped a new fall dessert: Member's Mark Pumpkin Cream Cheese Blondies. Unlike most blondies, which are actually bar cookies, these ones are round and appear similar to a sliced Swiss roll cake. (Sam's Cub's website describes the dessert as a "flavor filled loaf.") This 3.9-star item does, however, have sufficient fall flavor to appeal to pumpkin spice fans. One of them enthused, "The pumpkin spice flavor really comes through!" Another declared, "A new fall favorite."

A sweet Southern pie

In addition to pumpkin pie (and blondies), Sam's Club has introduced another dessert in an autumnal shade of orange. Member's Mark Sweet Potato Pie is Sam's take on a Southern classic. It arrived in September, making it a true fall pie that we're hoping will stick around long enough for Thanksgiving. To date, it has earned a 3.8-star rating along with such accolades as, "It's not too sweet but its absolutely delicious!"

An unadorned classic cheesecake

Some things are best in an unadorned form, and arguably cheesecake is among them. Member's Mark Rich & Creamy Sliced Cheesecake is made in the classic New York style with a graham cracker crust and nothing but lemon juice used for flavoring. While you could certainly go to town with your own toppings, cheesecake connoisseurs will find no need to do so. "Everyone raved over this great tasting cheesecake!" shared one customer. Another gave it two thumbs-up, saying, "This cheesecake was a 10/10 for me truly. It was soft, fluffy, and creamy to perfection."

Sunny, summery dessert bars

These last two items on our list seem to no longer be in stock at Sam's Club, but they were great while they lasted. The first of these is the 3.7-star Member's Mark Lemon Bar Blondies, which were a springtime addition to the bakery. Their rectangular shape made them appear more bar cookie-like than the pumpkin blondies currently on offer, but we're beginning to wonder if the Sam's Club bakers actually understand the meaning of the word. As one reviewer described the dessert, "I would call this a lemon coffeecake. It's moist with a delicious topping and lemon chips." Another opined, "Overall, I think these are very good if you like lemon pound cake."

A surprise on a stick

This past July, Sam's Club introduced something that might have been more appropriate for Halloween: Member's Mark Mystery Cake Pops. On the outside, the pops were coated in an unprepossessing swamp green frosting, while the cake inside was either blue raspberry, pineapple, or dill pickle flavored. The 2-star item is an outlier on this list due to its low rating, meaning you needn't regret having missed out on it. Sam's Club influencers did their best to hype up the product, which may have had some adventurous shoppers running to the bakery to buy it. Those who reviewed the product on Walmart's website, however, clearly regretted the purchase.

"Each pop was covered in sour powder! Not what we were hoping for at all and no warning on the sour taste," commented one unsatisfied shopper. Another person confessed to throwing out much of the package and a third complained of both the flavor and expense: "Not good at all don't even waste the almost 20$ on these." All in all, the item's main appeal seems to have been its novelty. If Sam's Club does bring the pops back next year, we'd hope for a new and improved version that actually tastes good.
