Rotisserie chicken might seem basically the same across grocery store chains but there are enough differences between each of them to cater to different preferences. While many of us picture Costco's massively popular rotisserie chicken as the ultimate version, there's one flaw: It only comes in one flavor. And truthfully, our fickle taste buds can sometimes get tired of the same thing regularly. But Walmart (not Sam's Club), has a slight differentiator in that it sells a rotisserie chicken in a traditional seasoning as well as lemon pepper.

It's generally well-regarded with customers. On Walmart's website, a reviewer said, "This lemon pepper baked chicken has become one of our go-to meals, especially when it's too hot to turn on the oven or I just need something quick for dinner." Another customer said, "Enjoyed while it was still warm, fresh, and juicy and the lemon pepper taste was great!" Walmart sells both of these flavors of rotisserie chicken either hot or chilled, further diversifying your options. Chilled would certainly be more convenient for things like salads and meal prep if you're about to immediately start making cold dishes when you get home after your shopping trip.

Lemon pepper is a popular variety of roasted chicken

Lemon pepper seasoning makes a great pairing with chicken for multiple reasons. The citrus is bright and cuts through the savoriness of the chicken, while the pepper is sharp and pungent. It's a pretty standard seasoning now (Trader Joe's recently revived its lemon pepper seasoning after being off shelves for a while), but the flavor combination is famously popular in Georgia, where lawmakers have considered making lemon pepper wings an official food of the state. Lemon pepper is popular in restaurants (it's one of the best flavors on the Wingstop menu), but it also makes for a vibrant seasoning for sauteed cabbage, so it's easy to see the appeal for other types of food beyond chicken.

Albertsons and Kroger also sell multiple flavors of rotisserie chicken, including lemon pepper, but Walmart is more widely available. In any case, the ability to choose between flavors of chicken as opposed to having only one selection at Costco is definitely a store advantage. For some people, it's a good enough reason to stop by Walmart rather than a hectic Costco.
