5 Trader Joe's Halloween Treats To Hunt Down In 2026

Add The Takeout on Google:

Now that October is finally upon us, Trader Joe's is more than ready for the season. Its beloved bakery treats, Pumpkin Spice Mini Sheet Cakes, have been stocked since August, while the shelves are also overrun with everything you need to make or accompany homemade pumpkin spice lattes. By the time the store's September finds rolled out, Halloween-themed items were popping up here and there, but by now spooky season is well underway,

Our top five picks for Halloween this year include a favorite dessert dressed up for the holidays along with an item that's equal parts edible and decorative. There are also two types of individually wrapped treats for giving out to the trick-or-treat crew, along with another kind of candy that could go into a skull-shaped bowl or make for a cute cupcake topper.

As a bonus, we'd like to point you toward two additional items. Whether you have kids who'll be making the rounds or you just want a bag for small hauls, these $2.99 Trick-or-Treat Mini Canvas Totes are stylin' in shades of black, orange, green, and purple. (They're selling out scary fast, though, so beware.) If your plans include dressing up your doggo, you really should pick up a pouch of Halloween Decorated Peanut Butter Flavor Dog Treats ($4.49 for 6.76 ounces) to reward that patient pooch.

A cookie classic with a seasonal makeover

Joe-Joe's are Trader Joe's answer to Oreos, just one of the store's many name-brand food dupes. While these cookies don't come in wacky flavors like chicken and waffle, they have spun off several holiday editions. Candy Cane Joe-Joe's are usually available for Christmas (except in 2025, when the holiday treat disappeared from the shelves due to a manufacturing glitch), while Halloween Joe-Joe's appear in time for their eponymous occasion.

Unlike their peppermint-flavoredwinter counterparts, Halloween Joe-Joe's taste the same as the original, but their filling is tinted an autumnal shade of orange. (This is done with all-natural annatto, Trader Joe's wants you to know.) Since the dark chocolate cookies already look black, this covers the holiday color scheme quite nicely. Adding to the fun, the cookies are also shaped like jack-o'-lanterns, with a variety of different designs in each box. It would be a shame to hide these pumpkin faces by dipping the cookies in chocolate or deep-frying them, but they'd be the perfect Halloween-themed topper for an Oreo cheesecake or cookies and cream ice cream sundae.

A creepy cookie cottage

Gingerbread houses are a beloved holiday tradition, so much so that Disney World turns into a gingerbread wonderland at Christmas. In recent years, though, we've seen cookie dwellings repurposed for Halloween, which actually seems more appropriate. (After all, that witch in "Hansel and Gretel" wasn't inviting kids over for hot chocolate and caroling.) Since gingerbread is so firmly associated with winter months, Trader Joe's has instead chosen to make its haunted house cookie kit a chocolate one.

Each kit comes complete with pre-cut cookie panels to make the house with its pitched roof and jack-o'-lantern-shaped door, along with a slab for it to stand on. There is also a black cat in a witch hat, along with candy leaves, bones, bats, and other decorations. The cookies themselves are dark brown (though not quite as dark as Joe-Joe's), while the frosting and decorations are in familiar fall colors like green and orange. Once again, though, Trader Joe's wants to reassure shoppers that the only scary part of this cookie creation is in the design, not the ingredients, since all of the colors come from natural food dyes.

Fang-tastic candy bars

One thing most people agree on is that the very best Halloween candies are the chocolate ones, and assortments of miniature-sized bars are always a popular pick. Trader Joe's doesn't do those big-name brand variety packs, so it created its own fun-size milk chocolate assortment dubbed Wicked Good. (The chain does, after all, have a regional office in Boston.)

The Wicked Good bars come with four different fillings: caramel wafer, nougat, nougat and caramel, and peanut caramel. The candy itself isn't Halloween-shaped, but the wrappers for each flavor are in Halloween-ish colors like orange, black, and purple. The bag is also adorned with witch hats, cauldrons, cats, jack-o'-lanterns, and skulls, while a fanged vampire mouth window allows a peek at the candies inside. This design will be lost on the treat recipients, but it makes a bit of fun for the person purchasing the candy.

Ghoulish gummies

Not everybody wants to give out chocolate for Halloween, and that's okay. There are always going to be some kids who prefer fruit-flavored candies, and even hardcore chocoholics usually don't mind mixing it up a bit. Trader Joe's Halloween Gummies are a pretty solid pick for a non-chocolate candy. As the name implies, these are actually Halloween-themed, and they are also portioned out in mini packets for easy distribution.

Each bag has about 20 mini candy packets, with each one weighing 0.7 ounce and containing approximately 10 pieces. The gummies come in five different holiday-appropriate designs — bats, bones, pumpkins, and skulls. Trader Joe's doesn't disclose the flavor of the candies, but the apple, pumpkin, and blackcurrant concentrates used for coloring do sound pretty tasty. These gummies are also super-soft — no crunchy coating or sour powder, just sugar and squish and fun Halloween shapes.

Spooky sour candies

In addition to the relatively plain gummy candies described above, Trader Joe's also sells Halloween-themed sour gummies. The name of the product, Spooky Bats & Cats, tells you all you need to know about their shapes. (Although they actually appear more fanciful than frightening, unlike these seriously cursed creations.) The candies also come in three different colors — green, orange, and purple. According to Reddit's r/traderjoes forum, the orange is, of course, orange, green is apple, and the purple just might be blackcurrant.

Unlike Trader Joe's other Halloween-themed gummies, these do not come in individual packages, so they're not the sort of thing you'd give out to trick-or-treaters. You could serve them in a bowl at a house party, or use them to decorate baked goods. They'd also make cute garnishes for Halloween cocktails — a considerably less creepy (and crawly) upgrade than plastic spiders or Martha Stewart's disturbing cockroach-in-the-ice-cube trick.
