10 New Banana-Flavored Finds That Prove Pumpkin Spice Has Major Competition

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

The biggest hit of 1923 was a Tin Pan Alley chart-topper called "Yes! We Have No Bananas." Fast-forward to the present day, though, and we're practically buried under a bananavalanche. Not just the fruit itself, an always affordable grocery staple, but a plethora of banana-flavored products, as well.

With banana trending this year, pumpkin spice, despite its early return, is facing major competition. Or will we all suffer banana burnout before too long? Food trends being what they are, it's hard to predict with any accuracy; for all we know, banana could be booted in favor of pandan or pawpaw by the end of the decade. Or it could prove to be as long-lived as the aforementioned official flavor of fall: pumpkin spice.

Until then, banana fans have much to enjoy, even if Dunkin's spring banana drinks are no longer on the menu and the same fate has befallen Wendy's limited edition Minions Banana Frosty Swirl. These seasonal items were never intended to last, but there are plenty of other dessert and beverage products to take their place. Banana-flavored candies, ice cream, coffee, and tea are all on the table, as well as several protein-boosted banana items and banana-flavored canned cocktails. And Starbucks is set to release brand-new banana beverages for its 2026 fall menu. Now's the time to revel in the various banana products.

Alden's Organic turned a Southern classic into ice cream

Banana pudding is the queen of southern desserts (or the king, if you add peanut butter and bacon), but it can't be scooped into a cone without making an unroyal mess. Instead, there's Alden's Organic Banana Cookie Crumble, a new ice cream flavor that takes the same combination of bananas, vanilla wafers, and cream and combines them into a frozen delight.

Purchase a 1.5-quart carton of Alden's Organic Banana Cookie Crumble Ice Cream at Fresh Thyme for $12.89.

Barebells reinterpreted banana bread as a protein bar

This past May, Barebells introduced its new Banana Bread Protein Bars, which are flavored with peanuts and milk chocolate in addition to the fruit for which they're named. (Aren't walnuts more banana-bread-like, though? Never mind, peanuts are cheaper, so Barebells gets a pass.) Each bar contains 20 grams of protein, which is about 19 more than you'd get if you ate a banana by itself.

Purchase a 7.76-ounce, four-count box of Barebells Banana Bread Protein Bars at Target for $10.39.

Califia Farms made non-dairy coffee drinks banana flavored

Califia Farms, maker of non-dairy coffee products, has also jumped on the banana boat this year. No, it's not making banana milk just yet, but in June it dropped two new almond milk-based items with banana flavors. Califia Farms Banana Crème Organic Almond Creamer ($4.50 for 25.4 ounces at Kroger) and ready-to-drink Califia Farms Banana Crème Latte ($4.50 for 48 ounces at Pick 'n Save) are made with real, organic banana puree, just like Japan's Tokyo Banana Milk.

Cutwater gives a real kick with this banana cocktail

The Mudslide is a mixed drink made with coffee liqueur, Irish cream, and vodka, but canned cocktail maker Cutwater reinterpreted it by adding chocolate and banana flavors. Cutwater Banana Mudslide, released in April, comes in at 13% ABV. For reference, that's about two-and-a-half times as strong as an average beer, so this banana beverage should be sipped, not slammed.

Purchase a four-pack of 12-ounce cans of Cutwater Banana Mudslide at Meijer for $14.99.

Success Import's banana-shaped banana bread

Everyone's heard of banana bread, but what on earth is a bread banana? The Success Import Bread Banana is a rather unique item that was sold at some Costcos in June and may still be available at select Five Below stores. The banana-shaped exterior is banana bread dough, while the interior is a creamy, Twinkie-type filling. One Facebook user said, "They are....interesting.... my kids think they taste like banana Laffy Taffy; the texture is also a bit funky." Another shared, "They're peelable bread loaves with just a hint of banana flavor- like if you ate a dinner roll shortly after eating a banana."

Purchase a Success Import Bread Banana four-pack at Five Below for $5.

Haribo is finally offering banana gummies in the U.S.

Who needs high-end candy stores when we've got Dollar Tree? This discount chain recently became home to a Haribo flavor that can be hard to find anywhere else — that flavor being banana, of course. Prior to July, Haribo Bananas were only available overseas, but banana fans are excited that this candy is now so widely (and cheaply) available. A Facebook user described the gummies as "a tangy version of a circus peanut with a slight crunch," while someone else said, "They remind me of a harder Peeps."

Purchase a four-ounce bag of Haribo Bananas at Dollar Tree for $1.25.

M&M's banana bread melts in your mouth, not in your hand

This spring, grocery chain Kroger collaborated with M&M's to release a rather unexpected flavor: M&M's Banana Nut Bread. We found this new bakery-inspired item surprisingly good, despite the fact that the peanut centers aren't really giving banana bread. Still, this is the second banana-chocolate-peanut mashup on this list (the first being Barebells Banana Bread Protein Bars), so maybe peanut banana bread is now a thing. If you want, you could even go nuts (or bananas) and use these candies to bake banana nut bread.

Purchase a 9-ounce bag of Banana Nut Bread M&M's at Kroger for $5.49.

PJ's Coffee's banana-flavored fall drinks and eats

PJ's Coffee's fall menu certainly includes a pumpkin latte (no coffee shop would dare be without one), but the other three new limited-time items are all pretty banana-centric. Two of them are drinks: Cold Brew Mocha With Banana Cold Foam (starting at $5.45 for 16 ounces ) and Iced Matcha With Banana Cold Foam (starting at $5.90 for 16 ounces). The third is a pastry inspired by New Orleans' signature dessert: Bananas Foster Bites, which have a French toast flavor and maple filling but come with a dipping cup of banana glaze for an extra $1.50 on top of the $4.25 for four pieces.

Publix has ice cream inspired by two banana desserts

Publix is all over the banana trend this year, releasing two new banana ice cream flavors in August. Publix Limited Edition Bananas Foster Premium Ice Cream, which is sold by the half-gallon, is banana ice cream swirled with a ribbon of brown sugar and rum flavoring. Publix Limited Edition Banana Nut Bread Premium Ice Cream, available in pints, also starts with banana ice cream. It then adds banana sauce and walnuts. (Not peanuts! Publix clearly understood the assignment.)

Starbucks matches bananas with matcha

At present, Starbucks offers two banana drinks on its menu: Iced Banana Bread Matcha and Iced Banana Protein Cream Matcha. That's all set to change in a matter of days, though. No, there's no indication that these drinks are going away (unlike the actual bananas that Starbucks stopped selling a few years back). Instead, they will be joined on August 25 by Iced Banana Bread Latte and Iced Banana Bread Chai.
