The Costco Kirkland Frozen Find That Fans Say Rivals 'Most Fast Food Joints'

Add The Takeout on Google:

There are plenty of reasons to love Costco, but one customers often name is the in-house Kirkland brand products. They're consistently high quality, and we ourselves are big fans of Kirkland staples like its wide variety of cheeses, along with the yearly new products that become best finds, but some customers swear by another item from the private label. It's a side dish that you can find in the frozen section that we primarily associate with fast food: Kirkland Signature Extra Crispy French Fries.

It turns out many Costco shoppers are fans of the french fries and happily sing their praises online, like on Reddit. In one thread, a commenter said, "We think they are the best frozen FF at any price! My very fussy wife (who is not a FF eater) loves them. You need to use an air fryer for best results...."

And in a reply to that comment, another user chimed in, "Cooked up in an air fryer, they still rival most fast food joints." A 5-pound bag at a Chicago-area Costco will run you $5.99 — that's about the price of an order of large fries at some fast food joints.

There's one big drawback to the Kirkland-brand fries, however

Despite the overwhelming love for these fries, customers in that Reddit thread do mention one frustrating flaw: The package isn't resealable. Most households probably aren't crushing 5 pounds of fries in one sitting, and a few users complained about the lack of a zip-top seal, saying things like, "THEY NEED TO MAKE THE BAG RESEALABLE."

One user said their solution is that they "just fold it over a few times and clip with two 1" binder clips." (I'm sure a spare chip clip would do too, though we aren't fans of those bag-resealing gadgets.) But another user had a pretty industrious solution to the problem, though it does take a little work at some point. They wrote, "What I do is to separate them out into individual freezer bags and I write the temp and time that I like to cook them at, so that I can just grab a single bag and dump it into the air fryer when I'm in the mood for fries instead of fighting with the huge unsealable bag that they come in."

We agree frozen fries work best in the air fryer with a little technique. Personally, I like making a quick poutine with them, so if your household goes through them regularly enough, the Costco version sounds worthy of checking out.
