This Texas Roadhouse Sister Chain Is Like A Chick-Fil-A And Five Guys Fusion
Known for an atmosphere that encapsulates the vibe of a southern steakhouse, Texas Roadhouse is among the most successful sit-down restaurant chains in the United States. Though Texas Roadhouse commits to its beef-forward offerings and a full-service dining style, the chain's sister company trades those in for a different kind of American menu and fast casual service that's more akin to restaurants like Chick-fil-A and Five Guys. The chain is called Jaggers — one of the two other restaurants owned by Texas Roadhouse — and it specializes in chicken sandwiches and cheeseburgers.
Now, it's no new trend for restaurants to have dissimilar sibling companies. For example, Culver's corporate sister chain, Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q, is so different that it's downright shocking. However, Texas Roadhouse's CEO Jerry Morgan has noted that Jaggers' lack of similarities with the massive casual dining chain is a key aspect of the smaller restaurant's allure. "[Jaggers] appeals to a different segment than those who want steak and potatoes," Morgan explained, later adding, "You have sandwiches, burgers, salads, and milkshakes, an opportunity to win with quality food, served with hospitality" (via Forbes).
How do customers feel about Jaggers?
Consumers have praised Jaggers for having consistent and tasty menu items. "It's pretty good as far as fast food goes," one fan of Jaggers' chicken sandwiches said on Reddit, adding that they prefer the chain to Wendy's, Arby's, or Hardee's. "It's a great burger," commented a fan on another Reddit post. Others also commended the fresh, scratch-made burgers that the restaurant offers at a fair price. Suffice it to say, this menu item from Texas Roadhouse's sister chain would likely hold its own if we redid our chain restaurant burger rankings and included Jaggers in the lineup.
So, if the restaurant is owned by a prominent chain and the food is very good and quite affordable, why haven't many people nationwide heard of Jaggers? Well, it primarily comes down to location. Jaggers was founded in Indiana back in 2014, and while it has expanded to more than a dozen locations, it's still only available in a handful of states and territories. At the time of writing, Indiana and Kentucky house the majority of Jaggers locations – it also has a smaller presence in Texas, North Carolina, and Guam. Though Texas Roadhouse plans to continue to expand the small chain, you're unlikely to find Jaggers in most major markets anytime soon.
