Costco Shoppers Spotted This Holiday Bakery Treat Way Ahead Of Schedule

Add The Takeout on Google:

Despite the fact we only just recently began enjoying what the autumn line-up has to offer at Costco in September, the retail chain has already begun soft-launching its wintertime classics well over two months before Christmas. Costco members have discovered that Kirkland Signature Peppermint Bark is officially back on store shelves, leaving many people shocked and excited by its early return.

That's right, the peppermint bark which is known for featuring tasty dark chocolate, white chocolate, and crushed peppermint candy is already stationed in Costco's bakery section. Many people have been discovering the peppermint bark at Costco over the past few days, but some people noticed the product out on store shelves as early as September 17, which is incredibly early for a winter staple. Last year, the peppermint bark didn't return to Costco until early November, making this year's early release even more noticeable. Odd timing aside, this is a great thing for fans of the seasonal item as it means they'll have more opportunities to enjoy the minty treat heading into the end of the year.

How popular is the peppermint bark at Costco?

While it's too early to gauge this year's customer reaction when it comes to the returning item, peppermint and chocolate is the perfect holiday pairing so it's no surprise the treat has plenty of die-hard fans. "The peppermint bark is fantastic!" one Redditor said back in 2024. More recently, an Instagram user said, "It's perfect for holiday parties, gifting, or just keeping around when you want something sweet."

The Kirkland Signature Peppermint Bark might wind up being even more popular this time around due to its reduced price. While many Costco shoppers are fans of the peppermint bark, people have been less prone to purchasing it in recent years due to an increase in price. The peppermint bark cost just $9.99 in 2023 which increased to $14.99 in 2024 and $16.99 in 2025, much to the chagrin of shoppers. Those same shoppers will be pleased to see the price has fallen back to $12.99 this year despite the amount of bark per package remaining the same as last year at 21 ounces. (Back in 2024, Costco's peppermint bark came under fire for being an example of shrinkflation since the weight dropped slightly even as the price increased.) With all that being said, Costco is clearly hoping this extra-early rollout in combination with the lower price will appease the disgruntled fans of this winter classic.
