Not Donatos, Not Jet's: This Lesser-Known Pizza Chain Takes The Best In The US Crown

Though we all have our personal favorite pizza chains (Little Caesars, I'll always have a soft spot for you), sometimes it's good to poll the crowd. In a recent reader's choice awards survey from Reviewed, the people voted for a particular chain that I'm guessing a large majority of you have never heard of: Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings.

If you are familiar with it, you're likely in the Northeast or Florida because that's where its locations are scattered. It's a relatively smaller-sized chain at around 50 locations in six states. The menu does feature coal-fired chicken wings, but it also includes things like sandwiches, pasta, and yes, pizza. The chain is currently owned by a successful Burger King franchisee, and it must be doing something right because voters certainly love the place enough to call it out. In case you need further proof, it was also voted reader's choice best pizza chain by Newsweek in 2025. (Second place in the Reviewed awards went to Donatos, by the way, and third was the Chicago deep dish chain, Giordano's.)

Anthony's Coal-Fired Pizza & Wings is a quiet hit on social media

Because the chain's not supremely big yet, Anthony's doesn't have a ton of mentions on social media, but on Reddit (where people certainly love to share their opinion) there are some glowing reviews. One thread asked, "Is Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza actually good or is it all just nice on the outside and meh on the inside?" Diners chimed in, and it turns out almost everyone's favorite isn't actually the pizza.

"The wings are some of my all time faves. Pizza good. Meatballs good. Wings though were the reason we kept going back," said one Redditor. Many people agreed that the wings are a particular hit. Another person mentioned the order they enjoy, saying, "Everyone's already said how great the wings are, but if you combo them with their meatball and ricotta pizza it's basically a 10/10 meal." More than one person mentioned that the onions accompanying the wings are a highlight, which is interesting (since when do chicken wings come with onions?). If it's that popular, Anthony's Coal-Fired Pizza & Wings is definitely something to keep on your radar as it sounds like a potential next big chain restaurant. Look out Jet's, Anthony's is coming to take a bite out of your Detroit-style cheese crown.
