This Popular Aldi Triscuit Dupe Is Missing From Shelves, And Fans Are Starting To Panic

We all hate it when our favorite niche grocery store items vanish without a trace, leaving us lost and uncertain of how to fill that empty hole in our hearts and our stomachs. This most recently occurred for long-time shoppers at Aldi who discovered the grocery store has seemingly stopped carrying the Savoritz Woven Whole Wheat Crackers which people have grown to love over the years.

Consumers began noticing the item was missing from store shelves earlier this year. Savoritz (a private label brand owned by Aldi) once carried several different flavors of the woven crackers, but specific styles of the crackers have been slowly disappearing from store shelves, and now the entire catalogue of woven wheat crackers has been removed; much to the chagrin of many shoppers. "I've been looking for them for weeks and nothing," one Redditor said. Another disappointed commenter shared the same sentiment by saying, "I miss those little guys so bad." Some people have expressed frustration over needing to pivot to the name brand version of the beloved snack. "I've been buying Triscuits but MAN, they are expensive compared to the woven wheats," another Redditor admitted.

Why were the Savoritz Woven Whole Wheat Crackers removed from Aldi shelves?

The Savoritz item is well known for being similar to Triscuit crackers and has long been a partner-in-crime for Aldi's wide array of delicious cheeses, so its recent removal from store shelves has been especially upsetting. However, the similarities to Triscuits may be exactly what led to the products apparent discontinuation, as Aldi was sued last year over some of its copycat products by Mondelez, the manufacturer behind Chips Ahoy, Oreo, and (importantly) Triscuit, among many other brands. Considering the lawsuit has prompted Aldi to modify or discontinue other items in response, many are speculating that the removal of Savoritz Woven Whole Wheat Crackers was merely a slow yet inevitable result of that lawsuit which simply hadn't gone into effect until recently.

Nevertheless, this is a deeply disappointing development for fans of the crackers as they were a lower-priced alternative to Triscuits. Some people even say the Aldi product was outright better than the name brand version. Given the fact there's been no official announcement regarding the item's discontinuation, some people are holding out hope that the Savoritz crackers will reappear on the Aldi Finds aisle (AKA the "Aisle of Shame") or, better still, as a permanent item on Aldi shelves at some point in the future.
