  • Katie won $10,000 on Food Network's Sweet Genius in 2011 and later served as Culinary Producer for Seasons 2 and 3.
  • She is a professional pastry chef and recipe developer with more than 15 years of experience creating, testing, and editing recipes for home cooks. In 2013, she opened Buttermilk Bakeshop in Brooklyn, where she served as owner and pastry chef until selling the business in 2018.

Experience

Katie has been baking since she could barely see over the countertops. She began her career in pastry at Bouley in New York City before working at renowned restaurants including Le Cirque, The Russian Tea Room, Geoffrey Zakarian's Country, and David Burke's restaurants. Since 2019, Katie has worked as a freelance recipe developer, food writer, culinary editor, and baking instructor, creating and refining hundreds of recipes and articles for national food publications such as Chowhound, Tasting Table, Mashed, The Takeout, Food & Wine, Southern Living, Better Homes & Gardens, Woman's World, Brides, and others. She also creates culinary video content, translating recipes into engaging, easy-to-follow demonstrations for digital audiences. Drawing on her background in professional pastry kitchens, Katie specializes in baking, desserts, savory cooking, and culinary education, helping home cooks build confidence in the kitchen.

Education

Katie has a Grand Diploma in Pastry Arts from The French Culinary Institute in New York and received a certificate in marketing strategy from Cornell University.
