Chocolate may not be a superfood in the strictest sense of the word, but there's no denying it is a mood booster. This may be due in part to the candy's chemical properties (this is especially true of dark chocolate, which is the healthiest kind), but mostly it just makes us happy because it tastes so good. When we're browsing the bakery aisles at Sam's Club, chocolatey items are always guaranteed to get our attention. We've already highlighted some of the best new Sam's Club bakery finds, most of which were non-chocolate items, so now it's time to redress the balance and give the cacao bean its due.

The following list includes cookies and cakes, of course, but it also branches out into breakfast items and pies. Some of the products are all-chocolate, while others include the ingredient as a dominant flavor (when is it not?). Most items are standalones, but several are only available as part of a selection that includes (gasp!) a few non-chocolate items as well. Needless to say, all items are Sam's-sized bulk buys, most of which can be frozen for long-term enjoyment.

A big batch of brownies

Brownies are a tried-and-true chocolate dessert that Sam's Club fancies up with swirls of caramel, cream cheese, and chocolate frosting. Not only is the Member's Mark Gourmet Brownie Tray pretty to look at, but as one pleased purchaser said of the item, "These brownies are absolutely wonderful. They are a very rich chocolate, so moist and were a big hit ... didn't last long! I will be buying these again!"

The 24-count Member's Mark Gourmet Brownie Tray is available at Sam's Club for $20.93.

Chocolate-caramel bar cookies

Member's Mark Turtle Cookie Bars have a chocolate chip blondie base, a caramel drizzle, and a pecan topping; which is a flavor profile similar to that of the candies from which they take their name. Unlike those confections, they in no way resemble the eponymous amphibian but instead sport an appealing criss-cross design. "I dont know who came up with this idea but let me tell you ... you have outdone yourself. I absolutely love this with coffee , milk, latte, or nothing ... so amazing," was one person's review of their newly-beloved bakery item.

A 16-count box of Member's Mark Turtle Cookie Bars is available at Sam's Club for $7.63.

A chocolate-drizzled cake

When you've got something to celebrate, you'll need a chocolate cake that's dressed up to suit the occasion. The Member's Mark Celebration Cake has a chocolate base and white buttercream frosting, with the latter being further adorned by a chocolate drizzle, white and milk chocolate rosettes, and decorative bits formed from white and dark chocolate. Before purchasing this cake, be warned by the experience of someone who already has: "The frosting is too good, there's too much chocolate, and now every time I open the refrigerator I gotta have a MEETING with myself. I bought this for other people. They got almost none of it. Five stars. I'm furious."

The 10-inch Member's Mark Celebration Cake is available at Sam's Club for $23.84.

A chocolatey way to start the day

If you love chocolate so much you want it for breakfast, a bowl of Cocoa Puffs might not be enough to satisfy the craving. With all due respect to Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, that cereal is out-chocolated 10 times over by Member's Mark Double Chocolate Muffins. So, what makes these chocolate chip muffins different from eating cake? As far as we can tell, the lack of frosting alone is what keeps them in the breakfast category. A small technicality, but we'll take it. (Plus, these muffins are fantastic with coffee.)

A six-pack of Member's Mark Double Chocolate Muffins is available at Sam's Club for $6.82.

A cookie classic

Do chocolate chip cookies count as a chocolate dessert? That rhetorical question may rank right up there alongside the eternal query "Is a sandwich a hot dog?" but in our opinion, yes, they definitely do. After all, the chocolate is the part you notice. Sam's Club's contribution to the category is Member's Mark Chocolate Chunk Cookies, a product which shoppers praise as being soft, fresh, and almost like homemade. To make them even tastier, one person recommends heating them for 10 seconds in the microwave for some just-out-of-the-oven warmth.

An 18-pack of Member's Mark Chocolate Chunk Cookies is available at Sam's Club for $7.48.

A cookie-candy collab

M&M's cookies are a more colorful version of chocolate chip cookies, so they also count as a chocolate dessert. As the name implies, Member's Mark Mini Candy Cookies are made in a smaller size, which makes them perfect for portion control or giving to children. One purchaser felt they were as good as homemade cookies, while another said the cookies were gobbled up so fast they never even got a chance to try them.

A 36-pack of Member's Mark Mini Candy Cookies is available at Sam's Club for $7.78.

A cake fit for a formal occasion

One of Sam's Club's dressier items is its Tuxedo Bar Cake with Chocolate Mousse, consisting of dark chocolate cake layers alternating with stripes of chocolate and cream cheese mousse. The topping is a chocolate ganache glaze decorated with white and dark chocolate bits, a chocolate swirl, and a chocolate medallion. If you don't have a dressy occasion requiring an entire cake, you can always pick up a piece at the Sam's Club Café. This single slice offering is something customers have long been waiting on.

The 39-ounce Tuxedo Bar Cake with Chocolate Mousse is available at Sam's Club for $16.94.

An elevated cupcake assortment

Member's Mark gourmet chocolate cupcakes are as pretty as they are tasty, with their chocolate cake exterior surrounding a chocolate filling and topped with a chocolate buttercream swirl, an extra pool of fudge, and a ring of chocolate curls. The only catch is you can't buy them as freestanding items since they come as part of an assortment. Since the other two members of the Member's Mark Gourmet Cupcake assortment are Meyer lemon and strawberry, that's not too much of a sacrifice to make. Also, the balance of cupcakes comes out in chocolate's favor since it accounts for four out of the eight in the package.

An 8-count of Member's Mark Gourmet Cupcakes are available at Sam's Club for $12.97.

An everyday cupcake assortment

For kids' parties, picnics, or packing lunchboxes, you may want a less-fancy cupcake assortment, and the Sam's Club bakery has this covered too. These cupcakes also come in a mixed package, with half being chocolate and the other half vanilla. Both flavors are frosted with white icing in a choice of buttercream or whipped cream and topped with a scattering of colorful sprinkles. (Or jimmies, if that's what you prefer to call them.) "The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes from Sam's Club are a total win. Both flavors are incredibly moist, soft, and fresh, exactly what you hope for in a bakery style cupcake," said one fan. Another added, "I love these so much. We've had them for multiple birthdays now and it's so much easier than cutting cake."

A 30-count pack of Member's Mark White and Chocolate Cupcakes with Buttercream or Whipped Icing is available at Sam's Club for $16.67.

A French-style breakfast pastry

Member's Mark Chocolate Croissants aren't technically croissants. For one, they lack that pastry's characteristic half-moon shape. Instead, they are pains au chocolat, which is to say small squares of that same flaky pastry dough wrapped around chunks of semi-sweet chocolate. Unlike chocolate muffins, this Sam's Club bakery breakfast dessert has a certain continental je ne sais quoi. These petit pains also pair well with café au lait (aka coffee with milk).

A 12-count box of Member's Mark Chocolate Croissants is available at Sam's Club for $5.54.

Holiday cake balls

During the month of October, be sure to keep an eye out for Member's Mark Chocolate Halloween Cake Balls. Those who've tried them say the chocolate cake interior is rich and brownie-like, while the white chocolate coating is decorated in an eye-catching way. Half of the balls are tinted purple and covered in orange, black, and green sprinkles. The other half are left white and adorned with red veins and green irises to resemble eerie, bloodshot eyeballs. These particular cake balls won't stick around once their season is over, but it's possible that Sam's will dress up similar cake balls for other holidays in the future.

A 24-count package of Member's Mark Chocolate Halloween Cake Balls is available at Sam's Club for $19.74.

Itty-bitty brownies

Two-Bite Brownies are fun-sized mini morsels of everyone's favorite bar cookie free of nuts, frosting, and other additions. As one Sam's shopper warns, the name might be a bit misleading: "These two-bite brownies are so good they should come with a warning label because you can't just eat one. And why are they called two bite? They are so good I put the whole thing in my mouth and savor the richness before I pop another one in my mouth."

A 48-count tub of Two-Bite Brownies is available at Sam's Club for $9.22.

Liqueur-flavored lava cakes

Another non-Member's Mark bakery item worth of note is Baileys Belgian Chocolate Lava Cakes. True to the name, these are single-serve chocolate cakes with a liquid chocolate center. In addition to the double dose of chocolate, the centers are flavored with Irish cream liqueur. "Soooo good. Perfect size cake and the amount of creamy Baileys puddle in the middle was spot on!" said one person. Another agreed, "I simply can't resist them. ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT!"

An 8-count package of Baileys Belgian Chocolate Lava Cakes is available at Sam's Club for $11.24.

A pair of mini chocolate pies

Member's Mark offers single-serving pies in Chocolate Peanut Butter and French Silk Chocolate, each in a graham cracker crust. They make up two-thirds of a six-piece mini pie assortment, with the half-dozen being rounded out by a pair of Cherry Topped Vanilla Bean pies. The assortment is both photogenic and flavorful and Sam's shoppers say it makes a perfect dinner party dessert.

A 6-pack of Member's Mark 4-inch Assorted Mini Pies is available at Sam's Club for $10.74.

A portmanteau pairing

One of our favorite hybrid food trends is the brookie, a portmanteau word that combines brownie and cookie. Sam's Club may not use that word to describe its Member's Mark Cookie Dough Brownies, but it 100% nailed the concept: round brownies swirled with chocolate chip cookie dough. "These don't last five minutes in my house," one person admitted. This is really saying something when you consider the Sam's Club-sized packaging — there's more than a pound of super-rich brownies in there.

A nine-pack of Member's Mark Cookie Dough Brownies is available at Sam's Club for $10.98.
