The Only Rule Red Lobster Will Never Break For Its Iconic Cheddar Bay Biscuits

The late singer Meat Loaf famously sang, "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that." Well, that same sort of anything-but restriction can be applied to Red Lobster and its Cheddar Bay Biscuits. The seafood chain tends to be fairly big-hearted and generous with its beloved biscuits, mostly accommodating its customers' biscuit demands. But it won't do that: It will never give more than two biscuits per entree with any to-go order. Period.
You can ask all you want, you can even beg, but this is Red Lobster's steadfast rule. Two biscuits are included with every takeout dish, and not a biscuit more. There's even a banner at the top of its website attesting to this fact so you know the guidelines going into your order. This is nothing new and has always been the policy. It's just that Red Lobster is now more candid about it so no one's blindsided when they get their takeout order home and count how many biscuits are in the bag.
While perhaps disappointing, it's somewhat understandable that the chain would put a cap on the number of biscuits going out with takeout; not just for streamlining and cost reasons, but also for practicality. As one Redditor said, "How would unlimited even work with take out anyways, just eat it in your car in the parking lot? Ask for more when you go back inside to use the restroom?" Of course, if you want more than two per entree, Red Lobster is more than happy to let you pay extra. It's $6 for half a dozen biscuits or $8.50 for a dozen.
Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits are still unlimited for dine-in
Happily, this two-per-entree rule only applies to takeout. If you come in to Red Lobster to dine, you'll be treated to the VIP biscuit treatment, which means unlimited baskets of Cheddar Bay Biscuits brought to your table, and that's the case even when you have a smaller dine-in order (say, just apps). If you want to stuff yourself with biscuits, knock yourself out. No one will be keeping tabs on your in-house biscuit consumption. You can probably even get away with taking the extra biscuits from your basket home in a doggie bag.
The biscuits are made with cheese (cheddar, obviously), garlic, buttermilk, parsley, and other herbs; and they've really made a name for themselves. In fact, this bottomless bread basket accompanying every meal brings many a Red Lobster regular in the door. Some might even say the Cheddar Bay Biscuits have helped to keep Red Lobster afloat during multiple closures and bankruptcy concerns. They're certainly one thing the restaurant is still doing right.
On social media, one biscuit-loving Redditor raved, "It's so good, the outside is crispy and it's soft and fluffy inside. Also buttery with a good cheese and garlic flavor." Another poster said, "I want these biscuits to be my last meal." If the two-per-entree rule for takeout is still bumming you out, you can always buy a boxed Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix (gluten-free or regular) and bake your own or get them pre-made and frozen in your supermarket freezer section.
