4 Hands-Down Best Cookbooks For Easy Frozen Meals In 2026 (So Far)

The freezer is arguably the most important appliance in the kitchen. Sure, the stove cooks your food, but the freezer lets solo shoppers stock up on the best new Costco bakery finds. It also allows anyone who doesn't care for leftovers to store uneaten meal portions until they seem new again. For the well-organized among us, the freezer also preserves meals that can last all week (or month, or year ... the USDA itself says frozen foods can last forever).
In order to experience peak meal prep satisfaction, however, it's important to choose the right recipe. Some foods should never be frozen, while others, like leftover fried foods, are iffy at best. Certain ingredients, such as vegetables with a high water content, may also be unsuitable for meal prepping purposes. It can be quite helpful, then, to find a cookbook that focuses on freezer-friendly meals.
2026 hasn't been what you'd call a banner year for niche cookbooks, especially since so many new releases seem to be produced by bots. Call us old-fashioned, but we prefer not to take cooking advice from any entity not possessed of taste buds. We did, however, manage to find a select list of items that fit our criteria. Each item on our curated, if not-too-lengthy, list revolves around make-ahead meals. Our picks also have over four stars from Amazon reviewers and, best of all, were written by a real live human.
Freeze Fresh Meal Prep: 160 Meal Starters and Make-Ahead Dishes for the Freezer
Author Crystal Schmidt has a passion for food preservation, something she shares on her blog Whole-Fed Homestead. She previously authored a book called "Freeze Fresh: The Ultimate Guide to Preserving 55 Fruits and Vegetables for Maximum Flavor and Versatility," but its follow-up, "Freeze Fresh Meal Prep," is more concerned with recipes than preservation techniques. The book contains 160 recipes for freezer-ready fruit- and vegetable-based dishes. along with suggestions for how to turn them into complete meals.
Although the focus is on produce, this cookbook isn't strictly vegan or even vegetarian. Instead, it could be quite suitable for a flexitarian lifestyle with such recipes as plant-based, Thai-inspired pumpkin veggie curry along with a chicken tortilla soup starter. (A number of recipes are for what the author calls starters, meaning that additional ingredients such as protein, pasta, etc., are to be added once they come out of the freezer.)
In addition to soups, sides, and main courses, you'll also find appetizers such as spicy roasted carrot dip, morning meals like cheesy fire-roasted poblano breakfast tacos, and even desserts including cherry cheesecake ice cream sandwiches and double chocolate beet cookies. The recipes have gone over well with Amazon reviewers who awarded the cookbook 4.9 stars. According to one, " ... it has already become one of my most-used cookbooks after just one week. I've already tried four recipes, and every single one has been delicious."

Low Carb High Protein Meal Prep Cookbook for Beginners: Simple High-Protein Low-Carb Recipes for Weight Loss, Muscle Gain, and Effortless Weekly Meal Planning
Reducing carb intake and maximizing protein doesn't require purchasing a cartful of ridiculous high-protein foods no one asked for, like snack chips, soda, and ice cream. Instead, health-focused blogger and author Kevin Wagonfoot advises preparing simple, easy meals that fit into a keto or paleo diet. He has written over 30 books on this topic, and one of his latest is dedicated to meals and meal components that can be prepared in advance and frozen until needed. The 84-page "Low Carb High Protein Meal Prep Cookbook" goes beyond just recipes, though, since it also includes four weeks' worth of meal plans, as well as the shopping lists needed to create said meals, and even suggested timelines for meal prepping.
Among the recipes you'll find in the book are meaty entrees like espresso-rubbed tri-tip with rosemary and garlic, as well as plant-based ones like crispy Korean BBQ tofu bites with sesame sauce. There are also low carb salads, sides, snacks, and sauces. The book has a 4.4-star rating with Amazon shoppers. As one reader noted, "The recipes are very easy to follow and taste great." Another felt it helped with their transition to healthier eating, saying: "I've gone through all the recipes and I AM SO EXCITED there's a huge amount to choose from."

The Protein Meal Prep Plan: 30 Weekly Plans + 180 Recipes to Eat Better, Stress Less, and Save Money
Cassy Joy Garcia, a holistic nutritionist and the blogger behind Fed & Fit, has previously authored several other cookbooks on healthy eating and meal prepping. Her latest addition, "The Protein Meal Prep Plan," combines both of these topics by presenting 30 different meal plans centered around three main ingredients: a protein, a vegetable, and a starch. One plan, for example, involves ground pork, spinach, and rice, which are prepared as eggplant lasagna with spinach, crispy rice salad with ginger dressing, and bibimbap-style pork rice bowls. This cookbook isn't strictly freezer-focused, as a family following the meal plans might be able to consume everything within a few days. For a solo diner, however, these menus allow you to meal prep and eat the more perishable ingredient combos like salads first while freezing sturdier dishes such as soups and casseroles.
The cookbook's 283 pages include over 180 recipes, so there's plenty to choose from. The author even includes tips for customizing the meal plans to fit various dietary needs, such as gluten-free or vegetarian. Reviewers appreciate the variety as well as the detailed and explicit instructions, timetables, and shopping lists. The book has a 4.8-star rating, but one reviewer feels that even five stars aren't enough to do it justice: "I've never owned a better cookbook. [...] With this book, you don't have to think — everything is laid out, organized, and ready to go. No excuses, no overwhelm."

The Rebel Diet Meal Prep Cookbook: Eat Healthier, Save Money, Lose Weight
Benji Xavier is a health and wellness influencer with over 4 million followers on TikTok, and his first publication, "The Rebel Diet," was a top-selling cookbook on Amazon in 2024. He's followed it with "The Rebel Diet Meal Prep Cookbook," which is also centered around healthier versions of favorite recipes. This time around, though, they are organized into specific meal plans. Each chapter is focused on a certain theme, such as high protein, vegetarian, comfort foods, or Asian-inspired. All of the plans include breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert recipes, along with shopping lists and step-by-step instructions for what to prepare and when to do it. Once again, the book isn't solely about meals made to be frozen, but the recipes do include tips for freezer storage and reheating.
Among the recipes in this 4.8-star cookbook are ones for Buffalo chicken taquitos, Buffalo chicken mac and cheese, "commitment-worthy" tofu (a plant-based take on Marry Me Chicken), and strawberry-glazed mini cheesecakes. Amazon reviewers find them to be tasty and also appreciate the wide range. "Recipes are versatile & delicious enough that you will not get bored by your meal prep," wrote one purchaser. Another added, "I love that the meals are healthy, practical, and inexpensive."
