This Kerrygold Cream Cheese Flavor Would Shine In Your Next Cheesecake Recipe

Add The Takeout on Google:

We all know and love Kerrygold Irish butter for its golden color, natural richness, and nutty, sweet flavor. Even professional bakers swear by Kerrygold's butter. But the Irish butter brand recently branched out into new territory and released four different types of cream cheese, which we recently ranked in a taste test. Our favorite was actually the allium-forward Onion & Chive, but we found one of the varieties could potentially take homemade cheesecake to a whole new level. That would be the Kerrygold Honey Cream cheese.

It's worth noting that we didn't like it best for eating alone, due mainly to the thicker consistency. And from a flavor perspective, it also doesn't scream honey; that only comes through in the aftertaste, and quietly at that. But it's precisely that thickness, as well as a subtle sweetness, that makes us think it would be an excellent base for cheesecake. Honey is one of those sweeteners that you can not only use to elevate the sugar levels in a baked item, but it also has that complex floral quality (it is from flowers, after all) that give that sugar content more dimension.

The Kerrygold honey might make a great base for this kind of cheesecake

If you want to give Kerrygold's honey cream cheese a test drive in a baked good, you may want to consider trying it in a simple yet elegant Basque-style cheesecake. That's because Basque cheesecakes are relatively minimalist: They don't even have a crust, which means you'll be able to appreciate the cream cheese and the honey flavor up front.

Basque-style cheesecakes may seem complicated, but the truth is, you only need cream cheese, eggs, cream, sugar, and a minimal amount of flour to bind them all together (and they come out with a terrific brown exterior). You can also supplement the existing sugar in the recipe with some added honey to further accent the flowery notes. But Kerrygold's high-quality cream cheese base should be a great foundation. Even though we didn't find it the best for eating by itself, it can be your secret ingredient in an easy but golden-delicious cheesecake that'll wow your next dinner guests.
