The Fall-Inspired Dessert Costco Fans Are Running To Find: 'I Need To Check Again Immediately'

Add The Takeout on Google:

Costco is in full-on fall mode and everything's coming up pumpkins. The under-$6 pumpkin pie has been back for a few weeks now, as have the pumpkin streusel muffins and the beloved four-pound pumpkin cheesecake. Now there's a pumpkin-flavored frozen treat to go along with all these other orange-colored items. A Costco content creator announced on Instagram that they've seen Alden's Organic Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream Sandwiches in their local store for $13.99 per 18-count package.

These round ice cream sandwiches have soft cookie wafers on the outside while the inside is pumpkin cheesecake-flavored ice cream. The ice cream is made with real pumpkin, and as the product name indicates it's organic. Some social media users think these sandwiches sound simply divine. "Omgggg I did not see this at my Costco I need to check again immediately," said one person. "Oh my Lord, I'm glad I did not see those today when I was there. They would already be devoured!" said another.

The actual reviews are mixed

Alden's Organic Pumpkin Cheesecake Ice Cream Sandwiches are a returning item as Costco has carried them in past seasons. The Instagram poster above reported that they sold out pretty quickly at their Costco last year, which seems to be an indicator of their popularity.

Then again, not everyone who bought them was wild about them. Pumpkin flavor is pretty polarizing even for those who enjoy it as a little can go a long way. One r/Costco commenter who purchased a smaller quantity of this item at a different grocery store explained, "They're okay. Definitely not bad. Definitely wouldn't want 18 of them. The flavor is more interesting than addictive, so its a lot unless you have a lot of different people in your house who can try a couple." Another commenter, equally lukewarm, added, "They're alright. The key lime pie ones are better."

There were plenty of people who did enjoy them, however, such as the Instagram user who opined, "They are super yummy." Then there's the Redditor who pointed out, "If you like pumpkin spice desert, they are delicious." In fact, that final comment probably sums things up pretty well. Pumpkin fans will buy them, pumpkin shunners will avoid them, while those on the fence might seek out these same ice cream sandwiches in the four-packs available at retailers such as Hy-Vee and Sprouts.
