A Culver's Fan Convinced The Chain To Sell A Bag Of Its Iconic Cheese Sauce: Here's How Much It Cost

In the deepest, darkest corners of our imaginations, we've all marched up to the counter at our favorite fast food place and said, "I'd like to order a gallon of your cheese sauce to go, please." Because sometimes, store-bought copycats won't cut it, no matter how hard we've tried with Taco Bell's nacho cheese. Well, a huge Culver's fan pretty much did just that: They asked their local store if it'd be willing to sell them a whole foodservice bag, and the employee finally relented. Talk about dreams come true.

In the r/Culvers subreddit, a user captioned beneath a photo of two massive frozen bags of cheese sauce, "We usually go and buy like 10+ sides of cheese sauce because I'm from the Midwest and there's nothing better than their cheese sauce. And for once, they actually sold us the whole bag!" One Redditor mentioned that each Culver's cheese sauce bag is about 38 portions, and the original poster said in the comments that each bag sold to them was roughly $12. If all of this information is accurate, that would put each serving at just around $0.32, which is a huge discount from my local Culver's, which charges $0.99 per side cup.

As tempting as it may sound to ask for an entire bag of cheese from your local Culver's drive-thru, there's a good chance that this is a mostly one-off situation. First of all, if that bulk price was indeed accurate (along with estimated servings per bag), that reflects about a 68% discount from Culver's normal cheese sauce retail per-unit price. Just like any other business, any operator would prefer to make money on their inventory. 

And then there's the matter of that word, inventory — every store has a finite amount of cheese sauce; if a location actually ran out of a key popular item due to people's bulk purchases, that probably wouldn't work well either. However, it's likely all up to the store manager. My local Culver's lets you do some pretty heavy customization (they let me make a cheater poutine once when brown gravy was still available, RIP). Maybe if you're a Culver's lifer, your local shop would understand your fandom. Either way, someone is out there enjoying more of Culver's superior cheese sauce than any of us mere mortals have ever had access to. Hey, at least Raising Cane's will let us buy disgusting amounts of sauce.
