Trader Joe's New Frozen Pasta Might Just Be Your Weeknight Savior (If Only It Was Bigger)

Trader Joe's has plenty of quality pasta night finds for when you want to impress with a freshly cooked dish, but on some weeknights, the motivation to cook a dinner from scratch can be tough to come by. Thankfully, that's what all those convenient prepackaged meals in the grocery store are there for, so don't sleep on Trader Joe's frozen foods that taste homemade. And the neighborhood grocer's latest lasagna drop might be another hit.

In the r/traderjoes subreddit, a TJ's customer posted an image of the store's recently stocked Family Style Chicken Florentine Lasagna and said, "Had this for dinner tonight and I already know I will be buying this again several times over!" Clearly, the combination of white meat chicken, spinach, onions, and a parmesan and romano cheese sauce is winning shoppers over. People in the comment section seeing the product for the first time appeared excited to try the dish. 

It only takes the microwave or oven to heat up for a complete meal, but the burning question surrounding the frozen product, priced at $7.49, was related to the "family style" label on the package. Given that the entire lasagna only weighs 2 pounds, folks wondered whether the title was appropriate.

One astute Redditor in the r/traderjoes subreddit, noticing the frozen meal was only 2 pounds, took a crack at what they thought was a misleading "family style" label. "Perfect size for this family ... of one," they said. The original poster agreed, saying they had eaten half for dinner and had the remaining half for a convenient lunch the next day.

Just like Trader Joe's Family Style Meat Lasagna, which also weighs 2 pounds, the Florentine lasagna version is meant to serve four portions of one cup of lasagna each. I don't know about you, but when I tuck into a cheesy lasagna, I'm certainly looking to eat more than that. Even a Redditor asked, "Is it 4 smaller portions?"

Still, despite its relatively small size, folks could do worse and purchase a store-brand frozen lasagna that's not worth buying. And for how much it costs, eating the entire lasagna in one sitting is still cheaper than many fast food options, though you might want to pick up multiple boxes if you truly intend to feed a crowd. But more importantly, it'll come in handy on lazy weeknights.
