McDonald's Employee Reveals The Trick To Ordering A 'Perfect' Sundae Every Time

Who doesn't love McDonald's sundaes? Unless you live in Tennessee, where the McDonald's ice cream machines are always broken, chances are you've delighted in this frozen dessert before. The appeal is understandable considering the Golden Arches' famous sundae ranks high in the best fast food ice creams. But while many consider this vanilla soft serve as absolute perfection, there's a simple way to further elevate the sundae experience at Mickey D's, and there's no better person to ask than someone who knows what goes on behind the counter. According to the TikToker McGrey, working for the fast food chain has taught her tips and tricks for making the most of McDonald's food, including how to order the perfect sundae.

"Ask for all your toppings on the bottom of the cup instead of the top and you won't get a small little drizzle but you'll actually end up getting more, and you will be able to mix it in while you're eating," McGrey explained in the TikTok video. It's understandable if this hack hasn't occurred to you before. After all, there's no indication this is an option when ordering a sundae at the chain. Also, the idea that asking the service crew to put hot fudge or hot caramel on the bottom could result in a more generous serving has likewise flown under most people's radar.

Why this sundae ordering hack makes sense

There are many things to know about McDonald's ice cream, and this hack is certainly one of them. While there's nothing wrong with having a hot fudge sundae or hot caramel sundae the traditional way with the sauce poured on top of the ice cream, McGrey's hack offers better value for the money while enhancing the overall sundae experience. By placing the topping at the bottom you are allowing the vanilla ice cream to blend with the sweet sauce as you scoop down to reach it. It also means each spoonful is more likely to have a generous streak of the syrup rather than only having it in the first few bites.

In case you were wondering, McDonald's does accommodate requests for extra hot fudge or caramel sauce for a small additional charge. If you don't mind paying extra, we suggest requesting the sauce be put on the top as well as the bottom. This gives you a sundae with chocolate or caramel distributed throughout the cup. However, there is more to this sundae hack than simply changing where the toppings go. The manner in which you make the request may also determine how receptive and generous the crew is going to be. Always be polite when speaking with the cashier or other restaurant staff when making requests if you want them to put in the extra effort.
