Sorry DiGiorno: This Is The Frozen Pizza Brand Preferred By 2 Food Network Stars

For many, frozen pizzas are a staple of their family freezers, with DiGiorno in particular being among the most popular brands in the United States. While we have previously mentioned that the DiGiorno Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza is the best supermarket frozen pizza, some Food Network chefs disagree, putting a brand typically more associated with frozen lasagnas at the top of their lists. 

Tasting Table spoke with professional chefs about their favorite frozen foods on the market, and two of them agreed that Stouffer's French Bread Pizza was the best of the best. Chef Michael Symon and Chef Antonia Lofaso – both of whom are well known for hosting shows on the Food Network – swear by the Stouffer's product.

For Symon, the pizza holds nostalgic value. "When I would come home from school, both of my parents worked, there was always the French bread pizza in the freezer, and I would jam it in the oven," Symon reminisced. Lofaso noted that she's very particular about how she prepares her favorite frozen pizza. "Put it in an oven, 475. The packaging says less. I let it get hot, molten — let it cool 15 minutes, because otherwise you're going to burn the inside of your mouth — and then eat it. Because it needs to be crunchy and crispy and dark," Lofaso advised.

While French bread pizza itself is one of the once-popular pizza styles that are slowly disappearing, the Stouffer's version has maintained its fanbase over the years. Some fans online credit fond childhood memories as the reason for the Stouffer's French Bread Pizza's continued success, but others believe that take is underselling the actual taste of the dish. "It is the ONLY frozen dinner brand in which I am never disappointed," commented one Redditor in a post about the French bread pizzas. Another fan of the product agreed, saying, "These are actually my favorite small frozen pizzas to make." Others praised the pizza's bready yet crunchy crust and noted that the pizza is at its best when made in the air fryer, the easiest (and fastest) way to cook frozen pizza.

The acclaimed Stouffer's product comes in four styles: pepperoni, extra cheese, three meats (bacon, pepperoni, and sausage), and a deluxe option including pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and red and green bell peppers. As far as which version of the frozen pizza the Stouffer's-loving chefs pick up, Antonia Lofaso was quick to note which style was her favorite. "I just like cheese, extra cheese," she said.
