The Aldi Frozen Chicken Favorite That Customers Can't Find In Stores Anymore

The hazard of shopping at a place like Aldi is that sometimes a product you fall in love with can suddenly disappear without any notice. Some customers, who had grown fond of Aldi's Kirkwood Spicy Chicken Patties, are reporting that the bags of the frozen product are no longer available on their local store shelves. These Aldi fans have taken to social media platforms like Reddit, with one user commenting, "Asked about them to an employee, said they're being discontinued," and another stating, "Mentioned to the cashier, she told me to grab them while I could, they would not be back."

Historically, Aldi shoppers have been fans of its frozen chicken patties, especially the breaded filets in the red bag, which have a uniquely strong following. (They make for an affordably decent air-fryer sandwich that stacks up to a fast food joint; I can attest to this.) While we've been unable to locate any official announcement that the product has been discontinued, many of Aldi's selections do have a finite life cycle. But we've also seen items return after periods of absence, like the chain's Croissant Toast, so something as generally crowd-pleasing as a spicy chicken patty may have a chance of returning someday. 

While plenty of people are going to miss the Kirkwood Spicy Chicken Patties from Aldi, others have complained that the spicy patties are, well, too spicy. Even though the package is labeled at a medium level of heat, more than a few people swore that the chicken was spicier than advertised. One user on Reddit wrote, "Something was off about those things! It was a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. Claimed to be mild/medium but was actually rather hot and caused digestive issues."

On a Facebook group dedicated to Aldi finds, the Aldi Aisle of Shame Community (a reference to one particular aisle at Aldi), other people made similar observations. One customer wrote, "The chicken patties are DISRESPECTFULLY spicy! I love buffalo wings and spicy foods, but the hiccups were near-instant and I absolutely could not eat the second sandwich I made." There are many other comments echoing this sentiment, including one Facebook commenter who said, "They're made with the heat of a thousand suns." So if the patties do come back, perhaps they'll make a tweak to the recipe. If you're a fan and you happen to see a bag out in the wild, you might want to snag one — it could be a while until you see another.
