Last Call: The Good Place And A Crazy-Ass Cold Remedy
The Good Place
Just a quick reminder to check out The A.V. Club's number one TV show of 2017, if you haven't already: The Good Place is the only sitcom ever where you can complete crack up over a Kierkegaard punchline. The show brilliantly utilizes its afterlife setting as a way to discuss ethics, philosophy, and what makes a good person a good person, and is somehow very, very funny while doing so. Before another new episode airs on NBC tomorrow night, we suggest catching up as quickly as possible on Hulu! [Gwen Ihnat]
A crazy-ass cold remedy
I've been battling a cold for three days, so I finally broke down today and tried a crazy-ass remedy prescribed to me by Derek Simcik, executive chef at Thompson Hotels. It's a concoction his mom prepared for him back in the day, and he swears everyone who takes it subsequently feels better. Mix one shot bourbon, one spoonful of honey, one shot of hot water, one spoon of baking soda, then add a spoon of lemon juice. Before the mixture fizzes too much, take the shot. It tasted super gross, like salty whiskey water, and I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to judge its curative powers. Send thoughts and prayers. [Kate Bernot]
