Last Call: Half-Caffeine Cold Brew And A Blistering Cover Of A Stevie Classic
Riff Cold Brew Southpaw
I drink a lot of coffee, friends. A couple mugs of it get me going in the morning, and then I'll sip another in the afternoon. I should probably lay off the caffeine a bit, so I am so stoked on this new Oregon-based cold brew coffee brand called Riff. The Southpaw brand—they have a couple other flavors—is half-caffeine but tastes just like a regular cold brew, with good Frangelico-esque nuttiness and bright lemon-citrus at the end. More of these half-caff options, please. [Kate Bernot]
Thor: Ragaorok now on Netflix
If you're still reeling from the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War, one of the most enjoyable MCU efforts is now fortunately available for streaming. I thought Thor: Ragnarok was an absolute blast, with Chris Hemsworth happily hamming it up as Thor stands off against his evil-personified sister Hela (a magnificent Cate Blanchett). Meanwhile, we've got a sort-of buddy comedy going on between Thor and the Hulk, and an appealing new member of the team in Valkyrie, and some awesome uses of Led Zeppelin's "The Immigrant Song." The admittedly hilarious "he's a friend from work" is only a slight indicator of how fun this movie gets, so check it out if you haven't already. [Gwen Ihnat]
SFJAZZ Collective covers “Superstition”
Of modern jazz ensembles, few groups take as much joyful risks as SFJAZZ Collective, known for reimagining popular works of music into avant garde yet accessible interpretation. If you've never experienced them before, begin your journey with Stevie. [Kevin Pang]
