Deck The Halls With Alcohol-Filled Ornaments, Fa La La La La, La La La La
Greetings from this, the third day of October. We bring you good tidings of great ideas, which shall be to all people who live in the U.K., can afford to pay exorbitant shipping fees, or choose to make these themselves. For unto is shown this day, in the country of the United Kingdom, these alcohol-filled holiday ornaments from The Lakes Distillery and Pickering's Gin.
Cheers (and some super early holiday cheer) to Chronicle Live, which this week reported on the existence of the delightful tree-trimmers from The Lakes Distillery. The ornaments, which are returning to the U.K. market this year just in time for Halloween, can be purchased in a set of six or individually, and come filled with gin, vodka, or whiskey.
Last year was the first in which the distillery offered the ornaments, then only filled with gin. (Lakes also apparently has a hell of a pun game—the initial tagline for the gift sets was "let the celebrations be-gin.") Three varieties of each spirit are included in the gin and vodka sets, while the whiskey is just one whiskey—per the Chronicle, the only whiskey distilled in the Lake District. The ornaments are made from a "sturdy plastic casing which has been treated so as not to interfere with the taste of the handcrafted spirits," and are kind of genius.
Lest you think Lakes is the only distillery to have this kind of brilliant idea, Pickering's Gin had it as well. And while the Lakes ornaments can't be shipped to the U.S., the Pickiering's baubles can. It costs more than the ornaments do, but still, it's possible.
Still, for those of you in the United States, it's probably wisest to make your own. Cosmopolitan draws our attention to a "hanging shot set" on Etsy, so that's an option. Happy Halloween.
