Trader Joe's Has A New Bakery Find Fans Can't Resist — 'I'm Going To Inhale These'
Although we've ranked 11 store-bought cornbread mixes from worst to best for your baking know-how, Trader Joe's is giving you an easier option. TJ's has just announced the release of its limited-time Cornbread Muffins, made with corn kernels, honey, and sour cream, with a dusting of cornmeal on top. Each one is advertised to be soft and delicious — nothing dry or crumbly here. The muffins are $5.49 per four-pack and should be in Trader Joe's locations until the end of December, so you have plenty of time to enjoy them now (as you should) and then again for the holidays.
Trader Joe's recommends eating these muffins as an accompaniment to your favorite turkey chili recipe or slathered with salted butter. And if you want to be a little sneaky, you can even serve them at your upcoming holiday get-togethers, sans plastic clamshell packaging, and pass them off as your own.
Redditors are ready for these muffins
Trader Joe's Cornbread Muffins have hardly hit store shelves yet, and TJ's fans online are already both thrilled and eager. "Oh nooooo I'm going to inhale these," one Redditor posted. "Lord have mercy on my waistline," said another.
Many people are hoping that the muffins are similar to some of their favorite cornbread varieties, such as Whole Foods' Honey Cornbread Muffins, Entenmann's long-discontinued Corn Muffins with flat tops, and old-school corn muffins that come straight from the griddle in New York City diners. Of course, the ongoing saga of sweet versus savory cornbread is an age-old debate, and these obviously sweet muffins from Trader Joe's won't be everyone's cup of cornmeal. "On no, not sweet cornbread," one person posted.
Still, by and large, most people are reacting positively and hungrily, already planning their next trip to Trader Joe's to snag a pack of Cornbread Muffins — or perhaps even several packs. " ... I'm already thinking about putting these in the air fryer with a pat of butter on top," someone commented on Reddit. "Oh, I am definitely going to look for these," another Redditor said.
