LeBron James Teases Appearance At California Pizzeria, Then No-Shows

Basketball superstar LeBron James' move from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the L.A. Lakers dominated sports headlines for what felt like a week. But it wasn't that surprising—after all, James already has some ties in Southern California, like an investment in the fast-growing Blaze Pizza franchise. So unsurprisingly, the Blaze in Culver City, California, offered to throw a welcoming pizza party for the star athlete, with free pies at any L.A. Blaze location from 2 to 5 p.m. Then James himself responded to the tweet:

James' response likely lifted the hopes of fans who hoped he would actually show up at the Culver City Blaze location. But as ESPN and other outfits point out, that was not to be the case. Even though some admirers waited in line for hours, James was a no-show. But he'll soon learn that he can't avoid the paparazzi in L.A.: The night before he was spotted on a double date with his Cav teammate Tristan Thompson along with Savannah Brinson and Khloe Kardashian at Nobu, a spot a little swankier than Blaze Pizza.
