Latke Twitter Bot Helps You Latkefy Everything
Some dishes are so malleable, you can make them out of almost anything. Casseroles, soups, and omelets come to mind, and we should add latkes to the list, too.
The bot @everylatke, which has been autogenerating actually workable latke recipes every hour during Hanukkah, proves that turnips, spaghetti squash, parsnips, chickpea flour, and more pantry oddities can all, in fact, be successfully latke-fied.
🚥 Catherine's alright latkes 🐩
¾lb russet potato & ¾lb apple, boiled & mashed
½ cup onion
¼ cup corn starch
1 large egg
½ tsp turmeric
1 tbsp minced parsleyfry in olive oil
serve with ginger-infused creme fraichehttps://t.co/uTG98igUsn— every latke (@everylatke) December 13, 2017
The bot's creator, Elan Kiderman, describes the latke as "infintely hackable" in a piece for Quartz. As long as a cook maintains the correct ratio of base, starch, egg, fat, and seasonings, he writes, the individual parts can be substituted at will. Need proof? Cook up Giovanni's woodland latkes—or just wait another hour for the next recipe.
