Dang Kids Pranking Parents By Asking How To Microwave A Whole Turkey
This is one of those memes I actually saw on my own timeline, as a high-school friend received a text from her college-age daughter last week asking, "How long does it take to microwave a 25-pound turkey?" Really, parents should be on to this prank from the get-go, as the young people are much more likely to ask Suri or Alexa than their parents about such technical details. But my friend, like most parents, flustered, "Ummm... I don't think you can microwave a turkey," with her daughter responding, "??? It works the same as an oven basically."
The trick, apparently, is to see how long you can string your parents along before they completely lose their shit. Now that this prank has been reported by USA Today, Today, and People, it's likely that the parents are on to you, kids. Butterball even offered some tips to Today on how you can in fact actually microwave a turkey (make sure you thaw it first). But there were some genuinely funny responses in the meantime.
I texted my grandma the whole turkey text thing and she called me IMMEDIATELY and said "oh honey you can't cook a turkey in the microwave. Bring it over and I'll cook it for you" and like that's why we don't deserve grandparents ok
