Middle-Aged People Are Tripping On MDMA-Laced Brie
Sure, we all party like rock stars in our youth, but as kids arrive and our lives calm down a bit, we focus more on craft beers and the occasional wine tasting. But apparently, things may be heating up again: Business Insider reports a new trend of middle-aged people hosting "E's In Cheese" parties, by basically dosing their friends by putting MDMA in brie cheese.
The trend seems to be taking hold in the U.K., as The Metro "spoke to a 50-year-old woman who said she often hosts dinner parties where she and her friends take MDMA—the most common ingredient in ecstasy pills—wrapped in cheese." Her intention was to liven up her dinner parties and bring her friends closer together: Well, mission accomplished, according to one guest:
Nothing much happened for forty minutes then the colours in the rug seemed to be more vivid and before I know it was in an in-depth conversation about my fantasy sex life with an old friend. It was such an intense experience. I am sure most of us at that party have done it [again] with other friends, so now wrapping MDMA in brie seems to be a thing now.
The new trend even has a (hard-to-pronounce) name: "brie-ing." And here we thought our baked brie with apricot jam was trippy—apparently, not even close. So if your next neighborhood potluck suddenly takes turn for the rave-like, you'll know which appetizer to blame.
