Teetotaling Pro Wrestler Jerry "The King" Lawler Now Has His Own Beer; Won't Try It

Pro-wrestling legend Jerry "The King" Lawler has competed in the squared circle in five different decades. He practically put Memphis on the wrestling map and shot to national prominence in 1982 with his "feud" with Andy Kaufman. Much of that longevity, Lawler has said, could be attributed to him not drinking alcohol. In the rough-and-tumble world of pro wrestling, that makes Lawler an anomaly.

Now comes word from the Memphis Flyer that fellow Memphian Meddlesome Brewing Company has brewed a beer called "Jerry 'The King" Lager," which will be available at the brewery's taproom as well as in 32-ounce and 64-ounce growlers. But even though Lawler licensed his name and likeness, it doesn't sound like he'll sample his namesake beer. He told the Flyer: "I've never tasted beer, wine, or whiskey in my life and I'm not going to start just because one's named after me."

In related news, the 68-year-old Lawler revealed he recently suffered a stroke while having sex with his 29-year-old fiancee.
