Pizza Hut To Tempt You Into Ordering Pizza Hut By Also Delivering Beer

Pizza Hut is expanding a pilot program, which was to this point available only in Phoenix, to include 100 additional stores in both Arizona and California. What they're testing: beer delivery. Per The Daily Meal, "Select six-packs of booze are available for purchase—Coors Light, Blue Moon, and Miller High Life transported in a custom cooler." Also of note: for customers in Arizona, beer-and-pizza combos will cost you a delivery fee of zero dollars—or put another way, beer can be delivered for a fee of equal to the value of one Pepperoni Lovers' pizza.

Pizza Hut's Chief Marketing Officer, Zipporah Allen, popped this idea into some sort of magical marketing-speak machine, which in return spit out the following statement:

"Pizza Hut has and always will be focused on serving customers a great pizza experience. And nothing complements an oven-hot pizza like a nice cold beer... In addition to our extensive delivery network, many Pizza Hut restaurants are already licensed to serve and distribute beer, without third-party services, additional fees, or extended wait times. Expanding the pilot program is a natural way for Pizza Hut to get our customers the perfect pizza and beer combo they're craving, delivered right to their doors."

There's no word on if and when this test will expand to other markets, so for now, we'll have to depend on residents of California and Arizona to tell us whether or not it's possible to justify ordering two orders of breadsticks in order to have someone bring a cold sixer of the Champagne of Beers right to one's door.

It's worth noting that it's extremely unlikely that this service will make it easy for those rascally teens to buy beer whilst underage. Whether these locations have their own liquor licenses or partner with a local store, delivery people will be required to check IDs, lest the party responsible for booze distribution lose the ability to do so. In short, kids, you'll still have to ask your cousin to buy for you.
