Netflix's To All The Boys Is The Best Thing To Happen To This Japanese Yogurt Smoothie Brand
Hopefully by this point you've seen the latest superlative Netflix rom-com, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, based on a young-adult novel of the same name (that fortunately has sequels!). In it, Lara Jean (Lana Condor)'s nosy little sister Kitty (Anna Cathcart) finds a stash of love letters Lara Jean has never sent, and sends them. One of the recipients, Peter (Noah Centineo), decides that he and Lara Jean should enter a fake relationship to make his ex and her crush jealous. The rest is pretty easy to predict if you've ever seen a rom-com before, but it's overall delightful.
The Netflix film has made a significant splash, boosting interest in Lara Jean's hair-ribbon-accented wardrobe and author Jenny Han's series of novels. Fans are even gravitating toward the film's smallest food details. For example, at one point, Peter gives Lara Jean and Kitty a ride to school. Peter enthuses over the bottled smoothie Kitty has with her.

Bloomberg points out that the mere fact that the movie smoothie looks like popular yogurt drink Yakult has been a boon to the brand. Kitty says the smoothie is Korean, but "audiences have clearly spotted Yakult's 'distinct red foil top,'" according to social media researcher Mark Bachman. Bloomberg continues: "Yakult's 'mention frequency' spiked after the release of the Netflix movie and a majority of the conversations were directly related to interest in the product... Shares of the stock... climbed more than 2.6 percent since the movie was released on Aug. 17."
Isn't a movie that social-media powerful one you should check out asap? It's even free if you have a Netflix subscription:
