Burnt ends made from hot dogs

Cut-Up Hot Dogs Are The Secret To Burnt Ends On A Budget

NEWS

By Cara J Suppa

Kansas City burnt ends are made of the fatty, crackly ends of smoked brisket. If you want to keep the budget low, you can achieve a similar dish in less time using cut-up hot dogs.
Simply score the dogs lightly with a sharp knife, smother them in mustard or barbecue sauce as a binder, and toss on a good handful of seasonings or your favorite rub.
Smoke them, pull them out to add butter and brown sugar, and then put them back on until the sugar caramelizes to give them a sweet char and smoky sweetness.
Serve your hot dog burnt ends with some kind of bread and condiments for dipping, or set the tray of burnt ends out and put long toothpicks near it to be eaten individually.
